About La Maison 20 Degrés Sud
La Maison 20 Degrés Sud is a boutique hotel set right on the lagoon at Pointe Malartic, on the edge of Grand Baie. The land was once a coconut plantation, long known as Colonial Coconut, and is said to have inspired Norwegian author Jon Michelet's Le Coconut, a novel set in Mauritius and centred on a fictional hotel of the same name. As the first boutique hotel to open in Mauritius, it has more than 30 rooms and suites, each decorated in its own style and furnished with antiques. Rooms look out over the lagoon, the pool or the gardens, and some suites come with a private jacuzzi or plunge pool. The hotel's signature experience is a dinner cruise on the lagoon aboard Lady Lisbeth, a wooden motorboat from the 1920s and the oldest on the island.
