About Tazi Canyon

Tazi Canyon is located in the Manavgat district of Antalya, within Koprulu Canyon National Park and near Beskonak. Also known as the Valley of Wisdom, the canyon forms part of the steep valley system shaped by the Koprucay over a long geological period.

The canyon is approximately 4 km long. In some sections, the rock walls rise to around 300–400 metres, creating the dramatic and wide-angle landscape for which Tazi Canyon is known.

Viewpoints and Canyon Scenery

Tazi Canyon is particularly known for its natural viewpoints on high rocky outcrops. The Koprucay valley below, the opposing rock walls and the surrounding red pine forests combine to create a broad panorama.

This landscape also makes the canyon attractive for nature photography. Because many viewpoint areas consist of natural rock surfaces, visitors should pay close attention to the ground conditions and the edges of the cliffs.

Vegetation and Natural Environment

Red pine forests are prominent around the canyon. Across the wider ecosystem of Koprulu Canyon National Park, Mediterranean scrub, cedar, black pine and other plant communities adapted to higher elevations can also be found.

The national park provides habitat for a variety of mammals and bird species. Wild goats, foxes, wolves and badgers are among the mammals found in the wider area, while griffon vultures, imperial eagles and cinereous vultures are among the notable bird species associated with the region.

Places to See Around Tazi Canyon

Tazi Canyon lies within the same wider area as several other natural and historical sites in Koprulu Canyon National Park. Ancient Selge, the St. Paul Trail and Adam Kayalari are among the notable places nearby.

The Beskonak and Koprucay area is also known for rafting and other outdoor activities. For this reason, Tazi Canyon is best understood not only as a single viewpoint, but as part of the broader natural and historical landscape of Koprulu Canyon.

Location and Access

Access to Tazi Canyon is generally via Koprulu Canyon National Park and Beskonak. After Beskonak, mountain roads leading towards the canyon are followed. Road and surface conditions may become rougher as the route approaches the viewpoint area.

Safety and What to Keep in Mind

The viewpoints at Tazi Canyon are formed by natural rock surfaces, and some cliff edges may not have protective barriers. Visitors should avoid getting too close to the edge, especially when taking photographs, and should pay attention to uneven ground.

Rock surfaces may become more slippery in wet or humid weather. Extra care is advisable when visiting with children, particularly around exposed viewpoints.

A defining feature of Tazi Canyon is the ability to view its approximately 4 km valley from high viewpoints, with 300–400 metre rock walls and red pine forests framing the landscape.
